How to Turn a Temporary Position into a Full-Time Job
Temporary employee positions don’t always have the opportunity to turn into full-time job. Temporary positions do however, give you a great way to try out a company and see if they would be a good fit for you. So, how does one maximize their chances of turning a temporary position into a full- time job?
Do your research
If you’re looking for a full-time position, it’s important to know when a temporary position could potentially become one. Before accepting a temporary position, you’re going to want to look into the job in which you could be assigned too. You’re also going to try and figure out if the company that is looking for temps has in fact hired on people before for full-time positions. It’s important to know your skill set and how you can benefit a company with the skills you offer, so you’ll want to apply for positions that utilize them.
Get to know the company and its best people
This is also part of the research. Learn about the company and their values. Find out how they run and what works for them. You’re also going to want to know the people behind the name. Get to know the people that make the company run, such as the business owners, partners, managers and everyday employees. Learn from them and give them the opportunity to also learn something from you.
Go above and beyond
Each day, give 110% because how you start is a great indication for possible future employers about what kind of work they can expect from you. The more effort you put in to your work the more likely you will be noticed by someone above you. Make sacrifices to get where you want to be. If you have to skip lunch to get something done, do it. If you have to come in early, or stay late, make it happen. It’s important that employers see that you are willing to make these sacrifices and are dedicated to the work you do for the company.
Earn the right to be heard
You have ideas too; express them. If you possibly think that your idea for the company could potentially boost their success, then do it. An employer will have more respect for you and will be more willing to hear you out if they know you’re only speaking for the good of the company. This will potentially give you a better chance of having your name mentioned when employers are deciding to hire more people.
Communicate your interest in full-time employment
Of course, more than anything, you’re going to want to express your interest in full-time employment to Forge Industrial Staffing and or the hiring manager of the company in which you are assigned. Make sure they know that you enjoy working for the company and would definitely take the opportunity to become full-time. If you do this, and put in 110%, there’s no questioning that you’re going to be on the employers radar.
