Valentine’s Day is here and if you’re still looking for that special career consider this; searching for your dream job is not all that different from dating.
One popular dating expression is that “opposites attract.” This can also be true for you in your job search. If you’ve found that you are spinning in circles searching for jobs in your industry, perhaps you should try seeking work in other industries. Make a list of your skills and experiences and consider how they fit in fields outside of your own. You may be surprised how valuable your perspective is to an employer and what new and exciting challenges await you.
Also, remember that “there are plenty of fish in the sea.” This too is an appropriate expression to keep in mind during your job search. While you may have your sights set on one job in particular, it can be disappointing if you do not get it. Instead, seek out many related positions; not only will the opportunities for you to find a great match improve, but you may discover that you enjoy your new position even more.
